What brand of laptop should I look into buying considering my situation?

About 18 months ago I purchased a dell laptop, which I now hate with a passion. It overheats and shuts down after about thirty minutes of use. I would like to purchase a new laptop for gaming purposes while avoiding the same problem. I am not interested in a Mac or building my own computer. I am going to use this laptop primarily to play World of Warcraft. My budget is anything less than $1000. What provider/brand would you recommend?

How long will my laptop take to install updates?

It has been installing updates since last night . i have connected the laptop directly with internet with a wire in case it will take short time. But it is still running updates. Even if i try to shut down my laptop and turn it on , it still keeps on installing updates. Will it take forever or what?

I have checked if I can connect to the network with no security and I can. I have an iPod touch which connects to the network fine.
