My son turned off my partners netbook whilst she was loading a new update. It will not start up now stating that set up discs need to be reinstalled but it doesn’t have a disc drive.
I have a laptop, but don’t know how to transfer info. I have tried copying it onto a memory stick but it is protected and I didn’t want to remove the protection in case I messed it up.

Please help.
